The Person Behind the Flowers...
Hi, I'm Sarah, the owner of Vine & Stem Floral Designs. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my business. I’ll admit, I’m not the best at talking about myself, but I’ll give it a go so you can decide if I’m the right florist for your special day!
A bit about me… I spent many years working in the NHS before deciding to follow my true passion for flowers. In 2022, I started a night-time floristry course at Sunderland College, and before I knew it, I was enrolling in a career-changing course with the Cambridge Flower School. What started as a side hustle quickly grew into something more, and in late 2023, I took the leap to become a full-time florist.
Now, I’m in my second year of creating beautiful wedding florals, and I absolutely love it! There’s nothing more rewarding than helping couples bring their floral dreams to life.
I work from my home studio in Heighington, just outside Darlington, where I live with my husband, our son, and two dogs – a beagle and a retriever (dog lovers, you’re my people!).

I take pride in being approachable and hardworking, ensuring that every couple feels supported and heard throughout the entire process — from initial consultation to the final bloom.
My dedication to delivering exceptional, nature-inspired floral work was recently recognised with a Hitched 2025 award — an honour that reflects not only the quality of my designs but also the trust and appreciation of the couples I’ve been privileged to serve.
Above all, I believe that wedding flowers should not only be beautiful, but meaningful — a reflection of love, personality, and unforgettable moments.
